Hardwood Timber Batten Bevelled

Bevelled hardwood timber batten: a bevelled batten, 30 × 40 × 50 mm, dressed all round in Yellow Balau hardwood, in set lengths from 1 m to 3 m for screens, battens and feature walls, inside or out.

• Profile: bevelled face, 30 × 40 × 50 mm, so the batten reads as an angled blade rather than a flat slat
• Lengths: 1 m to 3 m in 300 mm steps, sold per length
• Timber: Yellow Balau, a dense South-East Asian hardwood used here for its straight grain and pale honey colour
• Uses: privacy screens, fence extensions, batten cladding, ceiling battens and feature walls
• Fixing: pre-drill dense hardwood battens and keep fixings at least 12 mm from the ends; stainless steel within 1 km of the coast or 1 m of a pool
• Finishing: coat every face and cut end before fixing, then recoat at least once a year, or let it weather to silver-grey. Oils we stock: CUTEK CD50, Intergrain Universal Timber Oil or Sceney’s Timber Decking Oil
• Bushfire: Yellow Balau isn’t on the AS 3959 bushfire-resisting timber list. For a bushfire-rated screen, use Merbau, which is accepted to BAL-29
• Other profiles: 42 × 42 DAR, bevelled and arched
• At Greenhill: stocked at 170 Settlement Road, Thomastown, with pickup or delivery across Melbourne and regional Victoria. See all our screening and battens.
