Decking Accessories in Melbourne

A deck is only as good as its frame and its fixings. Boards get chosen carefully and then bolted down with whatever is on the shelf, which is where movement, squeaks and rust come from three summers later. We stock the substructure hardware at Thomastown alongside the boards it holds down.

Joist hangers, straps and bracing

Galvanised joist hangers in 90 × 45, 140 × 45, 180 × 45 and 220 × 45mm to suit standard bearer and joist sizes, plus 175mm joist straps, 150 × 90 × 150mm stud ties, 100mm multi grips and triple grips. Speed brace and angle brace handle the racking loads. Ant caps go on the stumps before any of it starts.

Fixings

Blackhawk square drive decking screws, AnchorMark HS decking screws and powder coated decking screws in 500 packs for a finish that disappears into the board. For the frame: galvanised bugle batten screws, concrete screws, galvanised Dyna Bolts, 50 × 90mm strapnails and 30 × 2.8mm clout nails.

Hidden fixing and joist protection

NewTechWood T-clips for concealed composite fixing, and KlevaKlip adjustable joist supports for levelling a frame without packing. VapourSeal joist tape seals the top of every bearer and joist so water sitting under the board cannot get into the timber — the cheapest thing you can do to add years to a substructure, and the one most often skipped.

Post supports and concrete

Galvanised stirrups and bolt-down post supports keep posts off the ground, with rapid set concrete and Cement Australia PRO50 PROSTRENGTH for setting them.
