Ready-made hardwood screen panels, 900 mm wide, built from 19 × 42 mm DAR Yellow Balau battens: a finished screen you fix straight to posts or an existing fence, with no batten-by-batten assembly.

Panel size: 900 mm wide, in 2.1 m and 2.4 m heights
Made from: 19 × 42 mm dressed Yellow Balau battens on a fixed frame
Uses: extending an existing fence, privacy screens, partition walls and cladding over an existing wall, inside or out
Timber: Yellow Balau, a dense South-East Asian hardwood used here for its straight grain and pale honey colour
Fixing: pre-drill dense hardwood battens and keep fixings at least 12 mm from the ends; stainless steel within 1 km of the coast or 1 m of a pool
Finishing: coat every face and cut end before fixing, then recoat at least once a year, or let it weather to silver-grey. Oils we stock: CUTEK CD50, Intergrain Universal Timber Oil or Sceney’s Timber Decking Oil
Bushfire: Yellow Balau isn’t on the AS 3959 bushfire-resisting timber list. For a bushfire-rated screen, use Merbau, which is accepted to BAL-29
