Flooring Adhesives, Trims and Accessories

A timber floor is only as good as what goes under and around it. The glue decides whether boards stay flat and quiet; the primer and moisture barrier decide whether the glue holds at all; the skirting is what makes the job look finished. We stock all three at Thomastown alongside the boards.

Flooring adhesives

Our adhesives come in two chemistries, both one-component and solvent-free. MS polymer stays permanently elastic and suits timber, parquetry and cork: Wakol MS 260, Mapei Ultrabond ECO S955 with very low VOC emissions, and Siegel Bond MS70, which combines moisture barrier, acoustic layer and adhesive in a single 6mm V-notch application. Polyurethane gives a firmer bond for solid strip, plank, parquet and engineered boards: Wakol PU 385, Mapei Ultrabond P990 and Bostik Ultraset SF. If you are not sure which suits your subfloor, ask — the wrong pairing is an expensive mistake to find later.

Primers, moisture barriers and levelling

Concrete carries more moisture than people expect, and it is the usual reason a glued floor fails. Bostik Ultraseal is a two-part epoxy that primes and blocks vapour in one coat. Mapeproof 1K Turbo is a rapid-drying polyurethane membrane for slabs with residual humidity. Eco Prime T Plus is a low-odour acrylic primer in 5kg. For uneven substrates, Ultraplan Renovation is a fibre-reinforced levelling compound that goes down from 3 to 40mm in a single pass over concrete, screed, terrazzo, tiles or old floorboards. Mapei V-notch trowels are stocked to match.

Skirtings, architraves and trims

Single bevel skirting and architraves in primed, finger-jointed pine give a clean line at the wall and floor junction and are ready to paint. See skirtings and architraves for sizes. Non-structural pine plywood is stocked for sheeting and underlay work.

Protection and care

THOR floor protection comes in 1.5m × 50m rolls covering 75m², with low-tack membrane tape and joining tape to keep sheets in place through the rest of the build. Bona timber spray mops and refills handle the floor once it is living.
