Intergrain Universal® Timber Oil is a premium oil-based timber coating, expertly crafted to protect and nourish all timber species from within. Its deeply penetrating clear finish ensures lasting protection, resisting flaking, blistering, or peeling while helping to prevent warping, cupping, and splitting.

Designed for exterior timber and decking, Universal Timber Oil naturally fades over time to a sophisticated grey patina or can be tinted with Intergrain Colour Additive for enhanced longevity and a personalized finish.

This versatile oil is specially formulated to work over existing mineral oil coatings, creating an unlocked system that allows for future application of either water-based or oil-based coatings. Janka rating, also known as Janka hardness test, is a measure of the hardness of wood. It is a standardized test that measures the amount of force required to embed a small steel ball into a piece of wood. The Janka rating is expressed in kN (kilonewton), and the higher the rating, the harder the wood.

The Janka rating is commonly used to determine the suitability of a particular wood species for use in flooring, furniture, and other applications where durability is important. Some woods with high Janka ratings include Brazilian Walnut, Hickory, and Brazilian Cherry, while woods with lower Janka ratings include Pine and Cedar.

It is important to note that while the Janka rating can provide a useful indication of a wood's hardness, it does not necessarily reflect other important characteristics of the wood, such as its resistance to decay, its stability, or its appearance.
