Ready-made timber screen panels
Our hardwood timber screens are 900 mm wide panels in 2.1 m and 2.4 m heights, built from 19 × 42 mm dressed Yellow Balau battens on a fixed frame. Screw them to posts or an existing fence for a privacy screen, a fence extension or a feature wall, inside or out.
Battens for a screen you build yourself
Hardwood battens in 42 × 42 mm DAR, bevelled and arched profiles in set lengths from 1.0 m to 3.0 m. Merbau in 42 × 19 mm, 42 × 42 mm, 38 × 38 mm and 70 × 19 mm, kiln-dried and Select Grade. Merbau is on the AS 3959 bushfire-resisting timber list to BAL-29; Yellow Balau is not, so use Merbau on a bushfire-prone site.

Planning a screen
For a 1.8 m high slatted screen with 42 × 19 mm battens and a 10 mm gap, allow about 35 battens per metre of screen. Oil hardwood battens on every face before fixing and pre-drill the ends.
