Laminate Flooring

Laminate flooring is often the first choice when you need something that’s quick to install, holds up to everyday use, and still looks sharp. At Greenhill Timbers, we keep a practical range in stock – colours like Driftwood, Loft Grey, Blackbutt, Spotted Gum and more. It’s a simple, low-maintenance way to get that timber look across a home, office, or investment property without the price or fuss of solid wood.

Laminate Flooring – A No-Fuss Alternative to Timber

Laminate flooring gets chosen for one simple reason — it’s easy. Easy to install, easy to live with, and easy to replace if you need to down the track. When you're working on a renovation, a rental, or a commercial space, it’s one of the most dependable flooring options out there.

At Greenhill Timbers, we keep a range of laminate boards that cover the styles people actually use. Lighter tones like Loft Grey or Pale Oak for modern homes, classic styles like Blackbutt, NSW Spotted Gum, or Tanned Oak for something more traditional. They’re not loud or overly styled, just clean, consistent finishes that look good across the whole floor.

What Laminate Boards Are Made Of

Each board is built in layers, and each one has a job to do:

  • A high-density fibreboard (HDF) core, which gives the board its structure and strength
  • A photographic print that recreates real timber grain, usually scanned from actual hardwood
  • A clear wear layer that protects the surface from scratches, scuffs, and general use
  • A backing layer, which helps keep the board balanced and stable over time

That layered structure is why laminate works so well in dry indoor spaces. It’s stable, doesn't shift much with temperature, and lays flat over most hard subfloors.

Most of our stock, including ranges like La Vida and Oakleaf HD Plus, uses a click-lock system. That means you’re not gluing or nailing it down. You just need a level base, underlay, and a bit of time.

Where Laminate Flooring Makes Sense for Australian Homes

Laminate tends to be the right fit when you need a floor that works without needing too much attention. It’s common in:

  • Living areas and hallways
  • Children’s bedrooms
  • Offices or reception spaces
  • Investment properties or Airbnb fit-outs

People often go for tones like Driftwood or Santa Monica in open-plan homes, while darker options are popular in professional settings where flooring takes a bit of a beating.

If the floor’s going to get daily use but you still want it to look tidy, laminate is usually the first thing we suggest.

What It Does Well

  • Goes down fast — no glue, no nails
  • Doesn’t need sanding, sealing, or staining
  • Holds up well to furniture and foot traffic
  • Colours are consistent from board to board
  • Easy to clean, and easy to replace if needed
  • Priced well, especially for large spaces

Worth knowing: Laminate isn’t designed for wet zones. It’ll tolerate the odd splash, but we don’t recommend it in bathrooms or laundries unless the specific board is rated for it. If you’re not sure, we’ll talk you through the options.
