A Light, Versatile Tasmanian Oak Flooring for Modern Builds
Tasmanian Oak is a collective term for three eucalyptus species โ Alpine Ash, Mountain Ash, and Messmate. The boards are typically straw to soft pink-brown, with an even, straight grain that takes finishes well. That consistency makes it a favourite for open-plan builds, extensions, and homes that need a soft visual flow from room to room.
While it offers visual warmth, it remains a quiet backdrop that lets furniture, walls, and styling do the talking.
Performance and Workability
With a Janka rating of 5.5, Tasmanian Oak Flooring is classified as moderately hard. That means itโs strong enough for most residential and light commercial settings. Most installers find it easy to cut and adjust on-site without splitting, and it finishes cleanly whether youโre applying a clear coat or stain.
Its BAL 12.5 rating also makes it a compliant option for bushfire-prone areas where the exposure risk is low to moderate.
Available Sizes
We offer a practical range of sizes, suited to a variety of installation styles:
- 108 x 19 mm
- 112 x 13 mm
- 133 x 13 mm
- 133 x 19 mm
- 85 x 19 mm
All boards are tongue-and-groove and end-matched for better alignment and less waste during install.
Low-Maintenance and Easy to Live With
Once sealed, Tasmanian Oak flooring require little upkeep. Dry sweeping or vacuuming handles most debris, and a light mop every so often is usually enough to maintain the surface. If refinishing is needed down the line, the boards can be sanded and recoated multiple times.
Why Prime Grade?
The Prime Grade means youโre getting more consistent boards with minimal gum veins or surface variation. This suits design-conscious spaces where clean lines and subtlety are important and where flooring needs to enhance the room without demanding attention.
