Description
Hardie Stria Cladding Smooth is a wide 14 mm fibre cement board with a deep 15 mm groove that reads as a shadow line every 300 or 380 mm, in 325 and 405 mm widths and 3000 or 4200 mm lengths. Pre-sealed, concealed-fix on the 325 board, CodeMark certified and suitable up to BAL 40.
- Sizes in stock: 3000 × 325, 4200 × 325 and 4200 × 405 mm, 14 mm thick, priced per board
- Cover: 300 mm for the 325 board and 380 mm for the 405 board — 0.9, 1.26 and 1.6 m² per board (James Hardie)
- How many boards: a 4200 × 405 board covers 1.6 m², so a 30 m² wall takes about 19 boards plus cuts
- Fixing: the 325 board has a concealed fixing option with no face nails or patching; the 405 board takes one nail in the underlap and one through the face; direct to frame or onto Hardie cavity battens
- Finish: pre-sealed, ready to paint

James Hardie Stria Cladding Smooth 14mm is a fibre cement external cladding board. Fibre cement holds its shape through Melbourne's wet winters and dry summers far better than timber boards of the same profile — it does not swell, cup or split, and it will not feed termites. It carries a BAL40 bushfire rating when installed as part of a compliant system.
Why fibre cement
The board arrives straight and stays straight, so the reveal lines stay consistent across a long elevation. It takes paint well and, once sealed and coated, the maintenance cycle is repainting rather than replacing.

Questions we get asked about Stria cladding
What is the difference between Stria and Linea?
Stria is a wide, flat panel with a sharp express joint for a contemporary look; Linea is a 16 mm weatherboard with a traditional overlap. Both are fibre cement and both are painted on site.
Is Stria suitable for bushfire areas?
James Hardie lists Stria up to BAL-40 when installed to its guide. Check the rating on your report and use the specified cavity and flashing details.
How are the panels fixed?
Horizontally over a cavity, with concealed fixings into studs at the top edge and the next panel covering them. The installation guide sets stud spacing and fixing type.
