Description
Hardie Linea Weatherboard is a 16 mm pre-primed fibre cement weatherboard with a deep shadow line, in 150 and 180 mm widths and 4200 mm lengths, with tongue-and-groove ends so boards butt-join cleanly off the stud. Concealed fixing, CodeMark certified, suitable up to BAL 40.
- Sizes in stock: 4200 × 150 and 4200 × 180 mm, 16 mm thick, priced per board (the tongue adds 5 mm, so boards are 4205 mm overall)
- Cover: 120 mm for the 150 board and 150 mm for the 180 board with the 30 mm lap — 0.5 and 0.63 m² per board (James Hardie)
- How many boards: a 4200 × 180 board covers 0.63 m², so a 30 m² wall takes about 48 boards plus cuts
- Fixing: each board’s fixings are hidden by the board above (40 × 2.8 mm nail), or face-fix with 60 mm bullet-heads; timber or steel frames; start the first course on the Linea PVC starter strip
- Finish: pre-primed, ready to paint
- Bushfire: CodeMark certified and suitable up to BAL 40
- Warranty: 25-year James Hardie product warranty
- Fibre cement: deemed non-combustible under the National Construction Code, resistant to rot, moisture damage and termites, and Australian-made (James Hardie)
- Goes with: the starter strip, Linea internal corner mould, Linea boxed corner and window adaptor
- At Greenhill: stocked at 170 Settlement Road, Thomastown, with pickup or delivery across Melbourne and regional Victoria. See the full James Hardie range.
James Hardie 16mm Linea Weatherboard is a fibre cement external cladding board. Fibre cement holds its shape through Melbourne's wet winters and dry summers far better than timber boards of the same profile — it does not swell, cup or split, and it will not feed termites. It carries a BAL40 bushfire rating when installed as part of a compliant system.
Why fibre cement
The board arrives straight and stays straight, so the reveal lines stay consistent across a long elevation. It takes paint well and, once sealed and coated, the maintenance cycle is repainting rather than replacing.

Questions we get asked about Linea weatherboard
What widths does Linea come in?
We stock the 16 mm board in 150 mm and 180 mm widths, 4.2 m long. The 180 mm board gives roughly 150 mm of exposed face once overlapped.
Can Linea go over an existing weatherboard house?
Not over the old boards. Strip back to the frame, add a wall wrap and, where the detail calls for it, cavity battens, then fix the new boards.
What is the bushfire rating?
James Hardie lists Linea weatherboard up to BAL-40 when installed to its guide. Use the specified non-combustible details at openings and eaves.
