Finishing Blackbutt
A clear penetrating oil keeps the gold; a water-based coating keeps it palest. Outside, oil every face and cut end before laying, and recoat yearly or let it weather to silver-grey. Blackbutt can surface-check a little in full sun, which is normal for the species and does not affect strength.
