Description
Hardie Axent Trim is James Hardie’s fibre cement trim board, 3000 mm long, in 19 and 38 mm thicknesses and 45 or 89 mm widths: the batten for board-and-batten walls, the edge trim around windows and doors, and the finishing piece on cladding corners.
- Sizes in stock: 19 × 45 mm (405260), 19 × 89 mm (405258), 38 × 45 mm (405261) and 38 × 89 mm (405262), all 3000 mm, smooth finish, priced per length
- Which thickness: 19 mm for battens over Hardie Flex sheet and for window and door edges; James Hardie says the 38 mm sizes work well with overlapping Linea weatherboards
- Fixing: gun-nail to timber frames (50 mm brads for 19 mm, 62 mm for 38 mm, at 150 mm centres) or screw to steel; not for gas-powered nail guns; James Hardie recommends stainless finishing nails
- Finish: pre-sealed, ready to paint once dry; prime any edges you cut on site before fixing
- Stability: fibre cement, so it won’t shrink, swell or warp like a timber batten, and it suits walls that need non-combustible materials
- Fibre cement: deemed non-combustible under the National Construction Code, resistant to rot, moisture damage and termites, and Australian-made (James Hardie)

James Hardie Axent Trim is a system component for cladding installation. Trims, flashings and jointing pieces are what make a cladding wall actually weatherproof — the boards shed water, but the junctions are where it gets in.
Why use the matched component
Manufacturers warrant the system, not the board on its own. Substituting a generic trim can void the warranty and is the usual cause of failures at corners, window heads and base courses.

What is Axent trim used for?
It is the fibre cement trim that frames windows, doors, corners and the junctions between James Hardie cladding panels, so the whole wall is one painted material.
Which size do I need?
The 19 mm trims suit Linea and Stria; the 38 mm trims give a deeper reveal around windows and corners. Both come in 45 mm and 89 mm widths, 3 m long.
Can Axent trim be mitred?
Yes. Cut it with a fibre cement blade, prime the cut ends and fix with the recommended screws or nails, then fill and paint.
