Description
Grey ironbark cladding: one of the hardest and most durable Australian hardwoods, in 50, 70 and 120 mm boards, in VJ, shadow line or VJ shadow line profiles, with a dressed or sawn brushed face.
- Sizes and profiles: 50 mm, 70 mm and 120 mm boards in VJ, shadow line or VJ shadow line, each with a dressed or sawn brushed face
- Timber: grey ironbark (Eucalyptus paniculata, E. drepanophylla), reddish-brown to dark brown, about 1105–1120 kg/m³ and Janka 16 kN
- Durability: Class 1 above ground and Class 1 in-ground; the heartwood is termite resistant and the sapwood isn’t susceptible to lyctid borer
- Bushfire: grey ironbark meets AS 3959’s high-density rule to BAL-19; for a BAL-29 wall use Blackbutt
- Fixing: pre-drill this dense hardwood, and use stainless steel fixings within 1 km of the coast
- Finishing: coat every face and cut end before fixing, then recoat, or leave it to weather to silver-grey

Ironbark is very high strength and durable timber and very hard and heavy. The heartwood presents a stunning array of colours, ranging from pale grey or light chocolate to darker reds and brown
It is generally even in texture and can have some attractive grain figure.
